London Day 5 - Wednesday 6/13

This morning we woke up to a nice sunny day which was a great break after the past two days of rain.  Unfortunately we also woke up at 7:30 to a guy in the courtyard of our apartment throwing huge pieces if metal into the back of a pickup truck which is one of the louder and more obnoxious things I've ever woken up to.

Suzanne and I broke our fast then took the tube to St. Paul's Cathedral, we walked around the outside and into the atrium but were too cheap to pay the £15 entrance fee so we had a quick look around and were on our way.

We from St. Paul's across the millennium bridge to The Globe Theater.  We took a guided tour and learned all about the theater's history and the vibe in London during Shakespeare's time.  There was a very annoying girl on our tour that must be in a stage crew wherever she's from because she kept talking about technicians and asking if we'd talk to anyone on the technical side of things even after it was apparent that we would not be.  It was a very interesting tour and it was great to see The Globe.

After our tour we had a quick lunch and took the tube to St. John's Wood so I could make my pilgrimage to Abbey Road and Abbey Road Studios.  I looked for our old messages written on the wall but it was apparent that they had painted over them and so I had no luck.  I was also even more impressed with the picture we got of our crossing last time we were there since it seemed so difficult for all the other people there to get it done with just one crosser and the constant traffic.

Afterwards we headed down to Madame Tussaud's wax museum and got to see all sorts of wax figures from Albert Einstein to Russell Brand.  If you've never been there it's creepy how realistic some of them are.  The tour ended with a cool 4D movie of superheroes in London and the girls next to us must have never been in a 4D show before because the were freaking out every time anything happened which was very and entertaining to us.

When next went to Harrod's which was 5 floors of ridiculously expensive stuff including a 2 foot tall  porcelain ship I saw on sale for £150,000. Then we went across the street to Top Shop so Suzanne could shop some more.

After shopping we went and met up with my mom and Shannon (they were at changing of the guard, shopping and at tea all day) for dinner at The Bag of Nails thanks to Molly and Dom's recommendation and I had my traditional/touristy fish and chips.

We came home to start to pack up our stuff since we're taking the Chunnel train early tomorrow to get to Paris.I had a great time in London overall even though the weather wasn't great the majority of the time and am looking forward to a great next couple of days in Paris even though I'm still scared of the French language.
