This morning started a little later than expected with our airport delays from last night but it didn't really affect our plans too much. When we landed we took a cab straight to our flat (though it was a ridiculously expensive £100). Our apartment is really nice with a great view looking out over Reagent's Canal.
After we got settled we went to the supermarket for lunch and the essentials and a quick walk about the area we're staying in in Camden. Once we had a feel for the area we walked down Camden High Street to the tube station. The street was lined with weird people and even weirder shops including tons of tattoo and piercing places, Sci-Fi shops and small pubs and restaurants. The facades of the buildings were mostly really cool sculptures sticking above the entrances.
We took the tube down to Covent Garden and walked around watching the street performers and looking through the market.
We walked from Covent Garden down through Liecester Square and on to Picadilly Circus for dinner. We didn't feel like waiting for some of the bigger restaurants so we headed off down some side streets until we found a pub with a really small dining room (fit for about 15 people) called Lyric. Even though it was a little off the beaten path the food was good and the service was quick which was what we needed. When we finished dinner we walked down Reagent's Street To make out reservation at the ice bar.
The ice bar was really cool (no pun intended), all the bars and seats and tables and counters were made of ice and so were the glasses we drank from. They gave us hooded capes and gloves (which were not really warm enough anyway). Overall it was very fun, especially while I could still feel my hands, but after about 40 minutes in there we made our way back to the tube, stopping for a quick dessert and tea on the way.
We took the tube back to our flat and after a long night on the plane and a long day of walking fell immediately to sleep.
I wish we went to the Ice Bar! The capes seem like a great time.. have a fun time guys.
