Rome Day 4

We headed to the Vatican first thing this morning only to be greeted by a very long line. The people who work there that try to get you to do group tours said it would be two and a half hour wait.

Clearly I had to test this because we figured they were exaggerating and they were wrong..we only waited 1 hour 54 minutes and 12.7 seconds. Also it rained for about 45 minutes which made the wait a little worse and sodoku harder.

Once we go inside we had to go through security and buy our tickets before we could actually walk around. The ticket turnstile didn't work for Ryan and it wouldn't let him though, irony at it's finest. When we finally found the Sistine Chapel it was packed basically shoulder to shoulder and the fact that we had jeans on did not help the sweating that accompanied this situation. Michaelangelo's work was very impressive but not really what I expected going into it.

We got out of there pretty quickly due to the overcrowding and headed around the walls to St. Peter's square to see that.

(I caught a very awkward photoshoot happening in the backgroud of this picture so I figured I'd post it.)

We headed to from there back across the river and down to one of the main roads in Rome and grabbed some quick lunch since most of us hadn't eaten at all yet. After that we went back to the hostel to relax and I met a kid from Sweden and talked to him for a little bit since I'm such a social person and enjoy talking to everbody I meet. I told him to eat at Angeletti's, where we had our best meal in Rome so I sort of payed it forward.

We went out and got our last dinner in Rome at a small place by our hostel and took a relaxing night in since we have an early day tomorrow to catch our train to Interlaken.

  2. Fun fact that I learned at the Sistine Chapel that you may or may not find interesting... You know how the painting looks like an arch? Well it is actually flat... Michaelangelo was pretty awesome (in case you weren't aware). I probably should have told you before you went...
